Starting at Easter 2006, Peter Rigg (Wainwright Society member 658) and his two faithful dogs will be walking all the Wainwrights. He is raising funds for the Great North Air Ambulance Service - a charity which should be dear to the heart of all Lakeland walkers!
Take a look at the website to see the details - and to complete a sponsor's form, if you would like to support Peter. He also would be delighted to take any Society member with him on any of the walks; the website will include details of walks planned, with dates.'
The GNAAS is a charity which provides a vital helicopter ambulance across the North of England, including the Lake District (hope I won't need it during the walk!). If you have walked in the Lakes, you may well have seen a rescue helicopter, which will have been either from RAF Bulmer (which may soon be closed down, if you believe the rumours) or from the GNAAS. They have no public funding, and they do need your money!
