Wainwright Society Calendar

The Wainwright Society 2010 Calendar has been a huge success, with well over 950 copies sold, and profit of almost £4,000 to be donated to Fix the Fells at a presentation on Stake Pass in May 2010. With matched funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund this will be worth over £11,000 to Fix the Fells.

The calendar was large format, size A3, with one page per month. Each month featured a photograph taken by a different member of the Society, together with a related sketch and quote from one of AW’s famous works. The cover photos were courtesy of professional photographer and Honorary Member of the Wainwright Society, Derry Brabbs.

The few remaining unsold calendars were signed by the legendary mountaineers, Sir Chris Bonington and Doug Scott, at the Wainwright Society event at Rheged on 1 February.

Proceeds from the signed copies went to support the voluntary rescue services – the local Mountain Rescue Teams and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, who performed so magnificently during the recent flood disaster in Cumbria.
