I wholeheartedly offer my support to this cause, having walked the Coast-to-Coast and many other walks and Fells in the Lake District I feel the Lakeland is the most unique area in Britain, and should be acknowledged as such.

It's a great shame that this wonderful route has not yet been recognised as a National Trail. I detect a whiff of snobbery amongst the powers that be!

It is an absolute disgrace that this route is not a National Trail.

We did the walk in 2005, excellent should be recognised.

Already in the planning and preparation stages to do the C2C walk next June, like many others I am travelling just to 'Do' this walk so agree it should be a nationally recognised walk/trail.

The coast to coast walk is unique and should receive more recognition. The tour companys are constantly trying to lose our village of Ingleby Arncliffe prefering the nearby more profitable (for them) village of Osmotherley. There's something very special about long, linear walks, and particularly so about walking across the whole breadth of the country. I walked the Coast to Coast in 1990, and it was a wonderful experience which changed my life. I've not stopped walking since. I'd like everyone to be helped to experience the Coast to Coast. Making it a National Trail would do that.

Having walked the walk backwards on my own in 2007, I feel this should be a marked trail on maps.

I was surprised to find that this trail is not an official one, and more since my wife and I completed it as a retirement project.

It has to be up there with the pennine way as the premier long distance walk in this country. How can it be ignored ?

I walked the coast to coast in 2004, lots of freindly people along the way from all over the world, 7 nationalities in all from canada, america, australia, france, holland, sweden and germany, everyone saying what great walk they have had or are having. Making it a national trail would be even more publicity, bringing much needed cash along the trail, and possible improve the way marking

My wife and I support it becoming a national trail.

My husband and I completed the C 2 C back in 1994. It took us 12 1/2 days and landed in bay town on my 44th birthday on the 13th july. Brilliant!!. It deserves to be a national trail, probably the most popular trail in the UK.

Walked the C2C with my wife Majorie in '99 the best walk we've done, we are scheduled to do it again this year in june.

I did the Coast to Coast Walk in June 2006. It's a great, great walk. Its beauty and historical importance mean that it fully deserves to have National Trail status.

Having walked the coast to coast last year, I feel it should be a national trail.

I did this walk in 1985 and its recognition as a national trail is long overdue.

I have completed this walk and in doing so met both British and foreign walkers who all would have helped the local tourist ecconomy. The Coast to Coast Walk goes through 3 National Parks, each with its own unique countryside, and is without doubt the best long distance path in the UK.
