Not before time!

I walked this trail, with my grandson (grown-up) during May of 2004. What a wonderfull experience we both found it to be. To pass through; and compare; three very different areas over a comparatively short span of time-14 days, was most impressive! It is very deserving of national trail status.

Should be made a national trail.

I have walked it - it is fab - get it officially recognised!

We walked the coast to coast last September with three Australians. Never in all our holidays have we enjoyed such an experience.

I did the Walk in 1988 at a difficult time in my life. The Walk was wonderful and I returned refreshed and life got better from then.

Have always loved the lakes for its views and walking. Alfred Wainwright deserves this honour for all his books that show everyone else what its like.

Having walked - and thoroughly enjoyed - the C2C, I am delighted to support the petition to see it recognised as an official long distance path. This year I am planning to walk the SW Coast Path - just a bit longer, and very different, but no more beautiful!

Done lots of walking trails around the world and the Coast to Coast is one of the best!

Of all the trails and walking I have done over the past 50 years, all over the world, the Coast to Coast stands out in my memory as one of the best. Many South African, Australian and American friends have also expressed the same feelings.

This walk is a must for national status and also inominate tarn should be renamed Wainwright Tarn.

I did the Coast to Coast West to East back in 1992 with a couple of friends and it was one of the best walks I have ever done.

Have done the walk, which is great. It needs to be signposted properly.

Having completed the Coast to Coast with my wife, and trying as much as possible to walk it exactly as Wainwright had done - I would be hope that this will become a National Trail. A very enjoyable two weeks walking holiday.

We did the Coast to Coast over two separate weeks and really enjoyed it, an absoutely brilliant walk.

I fully support the aims of The Wainwright Society to have Wainwright's Coast to Coast walk declared a national trail.

As a Cumbrian by birth the guides have always had a personal fascination for me and approaching retirement the coast to coast has an attraction as a project for retirement. It is surely well enough established by now to achieve official recognition.

IT IS A MARVELLOUS WALK.

For me, having walked the Coast to Coast, through 3 National Parks, it is the premier long distance path that warrants /deserves National Trail recognition. Best of luck with the campaign.

Many years agomy late husband and I walked the coast to coast, as we were then retired we took 17 days to do it. We met many lovely people, both walking and in the B&B stops. Wish I was fit enough now to do it again.

Let's have an official route!

I've completed the Coast to Coast twice and in my opinion knocks most other long distance trails in this country into a cocked hat , its status as an official long distance trail is long overdue !

Best wishes for a succesful campaign. My ambition is to make the Coast to Coast my first long distance trail walk as soon as I can save up the money. As this will probably be in a couple of years time, maybe I'll be able to celebrate its new status at the same time??!

I walked this route last summer2006 and have wonderful memories. It should have national trail status - it thoroughly deserves it.

Delightful walking holiday, a week to Shap 2000, and 2 weeks in 2002. Several sections ommitted any reference to C-to-C on sign posts, so thanks to Ord Survey and updated guides, little problem. Happy to follow existing signs, i.e. Cleveland Way,but linking sections need recognition and hence signing.

Would love to walk Coast to Coast, but would be more confident if it had been looked after and had good signage being a National Trail.
