Target: Natural England

0550 Allan Stewart Carter Middlesex UK
This route is of national importance to the UK and in particular the leisure industry.
0549 Ian Spight New South Wales AUS
I find it incredible that a walk of this popularity and splendour doesn't have official status.

0547 Pieter Hemsley West Sussex UK
0546 Christopher Lynch Hampshire UK
0545 Ernie Knagg Lancashire UK
I walked the coast to coast path in 2000 along with 3 friends and we all enjoyed it, I read about your petition in "Walk" magazine.
0544 Roy Bennington Essex UK
A great idea, i have made lots of friends on the route.
0543 Paul Wreyford West Sussex UK
Am speaking from experience having done the whole walk in 2 weeks some 12 years ago.
0542 Maggie Spencer Essex UK
0541 Jon Hodges Cheshire UK
I completed the Coast to Coast in 2005, it's a terific Walk with such variety, taking in the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors. Each day stands in its own right and not many Long Distance Paths can aspire to that.

Wainwright's Coast to Coast was the first long distance path my husband and I attempted.
It was the biggest walking adventure and challenge we'd ever faced and we loved every minute (despite getting soaked a few times). It inspired us to continue walking long distance paths and since then we've completed many others including The South West Coast Path.
0533 John Dixon Northants UK
Walking it in June so not early enough for us but we hope to re-do the bits where we wanted to see more.
0532 Michael and Sally Woodley Hampshire UK
Walked and enjoyed, of course.
0531 Mrs Julie Routledge Suffolk UK
This walk is part of our national heritage it deserves National Trail status along with investment and maintainance for the future. The date for delivering the petition has probably passed but I still wanted to add my name.

Completed half still latter part to do. Definitely should be national trail. Saw Eric Robson with AW a few years ago walking the route, really enjoyed it.
0525 Nick Taylor West Midlands UK
I completed the Coast-to-Coast Walk (East to West) with two friends in 1990. We found it quite challenging but really enjoyed the variety of scenery we encountered - a summary of the different aspects of Northern England. Starting and finishing on two different coasts made natural endings to the Walk.
0524 Chris Edwards Worcs UK
Walked the C2C in May 2004, it was a life changing experience. One I intend to repeat before too long. This route is a gem and deserves to be recognised as a national trail.
0523 Nigel Greenfield Beds UK
0522 Anthony Fityo Merseyside UK
Ludicrous that the Coast to Coast even requires such lengths to have it recognised properly. In this, the centenary of its 'father', do it justice.

It's high time this walk was officially recognised.
0512 Jon Deith Essex UK
How dare you not recognise this classic walk.
0511 Mrs Joan P Smith Lancashire UK
I walked the C2C in 2005 (a wonderful experience). Most walkers we met were from abroad, who struggled with the lack of signs and could not believe it was not a National Trail. It sould be.
0510 David Ralph Hampshire UK
I would very much like to see the Coast to Coast long distance walking route upgraded to natiional trail status. This fine well established route fully deserves this recognition, and it is hard to understand why this has not been done before.
0509 Steve West Midlands UK
Walked it to 'celebrate' my 50th in 12 days in 2005 with my 16 year old son and I'll never forget it! How it hasn't been designated as a National Trail yet is beyond me.
0508 James West Midlands UK
I have walked the coast to coast at the age of 16 and found it to be the most brilliant and scenic walk i have made for charity in my life time and the coast to coast walk most sertainly needs to be one of the national trails.
0507 Geoffrey Vail Norfolk UK
I agree with all of your comments about the coast to coast walk and definatly think that it should be accorded National Trail status.
I unfortunately have never had the opportunity to walk it, but would have if I could have. Unfortunately I am past the distance now but think that any effort to make it better walking for the future and be assured that it will always be there to be walked by future generations of walkers is worth while.
0506 M R Capon Essex UK
I support the designation of Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk as a National Trail.

I support upgrading AW's Coast to Coast Walk to a National Trail

The best walk I have ever done by a long chalk.
