centenary celebrations/ The Wainwright Society Autumn Dinner 2007 Arising from popular demand at this year’s AGM, the Society held a three-course dinner on Saturday 29 September 2007 at the Castle Green Hotel, Kendal, Cumbria. Around 70 Society members enjoyed an excellent meal, followed by an entertaining talk from Society member, writer and photographer, Bob Allen. Bob, former president of The Climbers’ Club and member of the Fell & Rock Climbing Club, regaled the audience with tales of his early, and not always successful, ventures into the hills.
