The Wainwright Society 2011 Calendar is now on sale and again features photographs taken by society members of Lakeland scenes and shots from the limestone countryside of the Yorkshire Dales. All profits raised from the calendar will be donated to Mountain Rescue Teams in the Lakes and the Pennine areas .......

Auction for AW's stick - The Society held a blind auction for a walking stick by neighbours of Betty Wainwright which has raised £501.50 .......

Berrier Hill Proposed Wind Farm - A decision to block a planned wind farm on the edge of the Lake District has been upheld by the government. West Coast Energy appealed against a decision by Eden District Council to refuse permission for nine turbines near the village of Greystoke .......

'Not to be missed' Mountaineering Lectures - Following the success of the lecture given by Doug Scott and Chris Bonington in aid of the Society's Cumbria Flood Appeal, we are delighted to give our support to two special lectures at Keswick's Theatre by the Lake. Doug Scott, Paul 'Tut' Braithwaite and Leo Houlding will present gripping accounts of their mountaineering adventures in aid of Community Action Nepal.
