Book Review

WAINWRIGHT PHOTOGRAPHIC
COMPETITION 2008

The closing date will be 31st December 2008 with the winners being announced before March 2009.

PHOTOS WILL BE ACCEPTED IN ANY FORMAT - a maximum of 3 entries per member. Please indicate with each entry in which format the image was captured and it is important to give each image a title. To create the precise desired effect, competitors are advised to submit their own prints in a size not exceeding A5.

Digital photos can be sent to secretary@wainwright.org.uk. The maximum file size for these entries should be 1 Mb (preferably 300Kb) as any greater size cannot be usefully processed and have created problems.

Photography Workshops with Derry Brabbs

Any keen amateurs who have admired Derry Brabbs’ landscape photography, (either through his Wainwright books or illustrated presentations to the Society’s AGM), now have the chance to discover at first hand how those stunning images were taken and consequently improve their own creative techniques.

Derry is currently planning a series of one-day photography workshops and longer residential courses for 2007-8. They will be centred initially around the Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire Moors and the Lake District although I do plan to take groups further afield to locations such as the pilgrim route across Spain to Santiago de Compostela.

In addition to the advertised workshops, if any small groups of Wainwright Society members would like to participate in their own exclusive day on the fells with Derry Brabbs, he will be happy to oblige and promises ‘very special rates’ for members and their friends.
