Below are details of walks we have arranged for 2008. Two of these
are prior to Society events – namely the Autumn
TEESDALE MEADOWS, MOORS AND WATERFALLS For further details or to register for this walk please contact the walk leader by email: richardsongaryj@gmail.com Starting and finishing in the small hamlet of Holwick, located in upper Teesdale, this walk follows the Pennine Way through riverside meadows, passing both Low Force and High Force, and the spectacular Cauldron Snout. The return passes the outcrops of Sugar Limestone, which are home to some of the rarest plants in the country. The Strathmore Arms is ideally located at the end of the walk for those wishing to enjoy some post-walk refreshment. 13.5 miles, 1800 ft of ascent ARANT HAW AND WINDER Walk before the Autumn Dinner There will be plenty of time for members to enjoy this classic walk in the Howgills before returning to Kendal for the Dinner, which starts at 7pm at the Castle Green Hotel. This is a combination of two walks from AW’s Walks on the Howgill Fells. 7 miles, 1900 ft of ascent BOWSCALE FELL AND BANNERDALE CRAGS Walk before the Memorial Lecture Members will be able to participate in this walk before going to the lecture at Rheged at 6.00pm. After the walk, those members who can’t wait for dinner could pop into the Mill Inn for some refreshment. 6.75 miles, 1750 ft of ascent
