The Wainwright Society is delighted to announce that sales of Encounters with Wainwright has reached an important landmark, with profit passing £7,500 – all of which go to Animal Rescue Cumbria, the charity that Alfred and Betty Wainwright supported passionately.

This book (240 pages long, in full colour and with over 250 photographs – many not previously published), contains 120 stories of people who met or knew Alfred Wainwright. Together they provide much new information and provide the reader with an opportunity to consider Wainwright afresh in the light of first-hand experience.

The book was compiled and edited by David Johnson, Editor of Footsteps (the magazine of The Wainwright Society).

"When David Johnson first mentioned the Encounters with Wainwright project, I knew it would be a winner. More, it would in a way set the record straight … Discover a new, more rounded Wainwright in the pages of David’s excellent book." - Eric Robson

David is pictured here with Kevin Whalley, Chair of Trustees of Animal Rescue Cumbria, who commented: "We are delighted to be the beneficaries of this excellent book, especially since animal welfare was a subject so close to the hearts of Alfred and Betty Wainwright."
