2027 will be the 25th anniversary of the Wainwright Society. To mark this milestone year, the Society has revisited all the calendars that have been produced since the first for 2010. Twelve of the best pictures that have previously been included in the calendars have been selected to make a 25th Anniversary ‘Special Edition’ for 2027, and an atmospheric evening picture of Ashness Bridge on the cover by Andrew Stainthorpe. These superb images illustrate and celebrate the quality and depth of the talent that we are fortunate to have within our membership. A big thank you goes out to everyone that has contributed to the calendars over the years.
The 2027 calendar will help raise funds for the Society’s nominated beneficiary for 2026, the Mountain Rescue Teams that cover the route of AW’s ‘A Coast to Coast Walk’. The walk was officially designated a National Trail in March this year after many years of consultation, negotiations and on-the-ground hard work by many organisations including the Wainwright Society. The increased publicity surrounding the launch and the walk’s new status will attract more walkers intent on completing the challenging 190 mile route. This is, of course, great for the businesses along the route but will undoubtedly increase the number of incidents that will require assistance from the rescue teams. Therefore all the profit from the sale of the 2027 calendar will be donated to the eight teams along the route.
The calendar measures 11.75 inches (30 cms) wide by 16.5 inches (42 cms) long.
