The Wainwright Society Photographic Competition 2025

There will be two categories:

Wainwright Country — the location of the photographs should be in areas that Wainwright was associated with e.g. Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Howgills, Pennines, Coast to Coast, Scotland etc.

British Countryside — the location of the photographs can be anywhere else in the British Isles and should capture the beauty of our countryside.

Members can enter one, or both, of the above categories, submitting up to two photographs in each category (a maximum of four photographs if both categories are entered).

The rules and the closing date for entries will be included in the Summer 2025 issue of Footsteps and will then be published on this page.

The winners and runners-up in our 2024 Competition can be viewed here:

Please note that the winning photographs will be printed from the photographs submitted. The Wainwright Society will not make any adjustments to the photographs so please make sure you are happy with the light and colour when you submit your entry. Each category winner and runner-up is awarded one print of their photograph, and reprints will not be optional.

‘Surely there is no other place in this whole wonderful world quite like Lakeland … no other so exquisitely lovely, no other so charming, no other that calls so insistently across a gulf of distance.  All who truly love Lakeland are exiles away from it.’ The Eastern Fells – Introduction
