Saturday: 5th September
Start: 10:00am
Location: Liverpool Arms, Lower Gate, harbour front
AW’s North Wales Sketchbook (1982) contains a wide variety of subjects from mountain ranges to lighthouses, beaches and deserted coastal villages. His work also includes two sketches in Conwy, the formidable castle and the stunning estuary. We will visit both these locations on the penultimate walk of the season. The tide will be flooding enabling an appreciation of the estuary in both conditions.
Saturday: 26th September
Meet: 09:30am (latest)
Location: Ullswater Steamers Pier, Glenridding
Launch departs: 09:45
Disembarking at Howtown, we will return to Glenridding along the spectacular shore path, part of the Ullswater Way. Three of the route’s highlights are Sandwick, Silver Point and the Artists’ Seat. Note the path is rocky with many tree roots, care is required when walking.
Unfortunately, as occurred in 2025, launch services can be suspended due to adverse weather conditions.
In this case an alternative walk at low level will be offered.
NOTE: Following the landslip repairs have now been completed to the A592 over Kirkstone Pass. The road reopened fully on 17th July 2026.
Kindly confirm your attendance on this walk as soon as possible please, in order that the Walks Organiser can specify the number of seats required with the launch operator.
Please do NOT book your own tickets.
The Walks Organiser will book tickets directly with Ullswater Steamers and advise the cost of the ticket, single to Howtown from Glenridding, in due course.
This year, our 23rd lecture, is being jointly presented by Patterdale, Swaledale and Cleveland Mountain Rescue Teams along with LDW professional baggage handlers all of whom help to maintain our safety and comfort when taking on the rigours of the Coast to Coast Path National Trail.
