We rounded off the Society's 2026 Walks programme in style on Saturday (27th September) as 20 walkers headed east of Ullswater on board the Howtown Ferry, and then walked the classic 7.5 miles route above the lake back around to Patterdale and Glenridding, following a section of the Ullswater Way

What a fabulous evening on Saturday (26th September) at our well-attended 23rd Wainwright Memorial Lecture held at Rheged, Penrith.

On 26th September our Walks Programme came to an end for another year. A sincere thank you to all of you who participated in 2026 and indeed since we resumed in 2021
following the covid pandemic

The 2026 Challenge celebrated the designation as a National Trail of Alfred Wainwright’s route from St. Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay, which he described in A Coast to Coast Walk, first published in 1973

14 Society members and dog assembled at Conwy waterfront for a mountain walk unlike any other we had experienced in Wainwright's more well-known walking areas

Members kindly note that our final two walks of the season will take place in September. To clarify, there is, no walk this year in October.
