Our annual Joint Walk with the RGS – North West.
Location: Carrock Fell
Start: Calebreck car park (GR NY 345358) at 10:00 hrs

This is a classic walk in the Northern Fells. Carrock Fell has an interesting geological history, the remains of an Iron Age Hill Fort and expansive views. We will also visit the MBA’s
iconic Lingy Hut, that sits astride the Cumbria Way. The descent will be via Grainsgill Beck, a popular location for wild swimmers. The path also passes through the considerable industrial archaeology of Carrock Mine where tungsten was once extracted.

This walk includes a cruise aboard one of the Windermere Steamers, weather permitting. A group booking has been made with Windermere Lake Cruises on their yellow cruise. Members should re-imburse the Walks Organiser accordingly. The current return price is £20.20, however, with enough participants we should enjoy a discount.
Members will board one of the classic steamers at Bowness for the 10:30 hrs sailing to Lakeside, eta 11:10 hrs. Our walk will commence from Lakeside Pier. The walk will visit the environs of Finsthwaite Heights (The Outlying Fells of Lakeland).
