Auctions of AW Drawings and Prints

Joan and Richard Robinson generously donated to the Society two original AW drawings and three AW signed prints.

The two original AW signed drawings will be auctioned by Laidlaws Auctioneers, Carlisle on Friday 24th to Saturday 25th March. The two drawings, below, are of Swindale and Low Crosby Church. It is expected that they will each attract bids in excess of £500. All of the sale profits will be donated to charity, with the proceeds being split equally between Animal Rescue Cumbria and Mountain Rescue Cumbria. Laidlaws have kindly waived their seller’s commission. The three framed prints signed by AW are from An Eden Sketchbook. Our understanding is that the pages which AW signed were removed from a copy of the Sketchbook. The signed prints are mounted and framed. The prints, below, have a lower value than the original drawings, and we are inviting Society members only to submit bids for these. The total sum raised will, again, be shared equally between the two charities mentioned above.

Laidlaws pre-sale estimate for successful bids for each print is £80 to £120.

Please note that what appears to be discoloration on the prints is simply reflection on the glass.
