Carrock Fell – Joint walk with the Royal Geographical Society

The walkers met on a cooler Saturday morning than we’ve had recently, which was a quite welcome change, and had a very interesting walk over Carrock Fell (2174ft), to Lingy Hut and down past Carrock Mine

The walkers met on a cooler Saturday morning than we’ve had recently, which was a quite welcome change, and had a very interesting walk over Carrock Fell (2174ft), to Lingy Hut and down past Carrock Mine.

We learnt about the geology and geography of the area and also some lichens, flora and fauna, although no lizards or snakes put in an appearance. Post walk refreshments were taken at the Mill Inn, Mungrisdale.

Thanks to Mark Abbott for organising another excellent walk with the RGS, and to the RGS for sharing their knowledge of this very interesting geological area.
The next walk will be on August 8th, please advise the Walks Organiser Mark Abbott as soon as possible if you wish to join this walk, information can be found on the Society Walks page.
