Society Walks Programme 2026

The full details of our latest Walks Programme, have now been finalised. These can be found on the Activities/Society Walks tab. Please scroll fully down the page to ensure you access all the information pertaining to each walk. Updates will be applied as we progress through the year.

Five walks will again visit Cumbria including the Society Challenge ascent of Nine Standards on 16th May. This is to celebrate AW’s A Coast to Coast Walk attaining National Trail Status in 2026.

There will also be a joint walk with the Pennine Journey Supporters’ Club starting in Settle on 18th April.

As in recent years we have again teamed up to run a joint walk with the Royal Geographical Society on 18th July.

Full information regarding these two additional walks will be promulgated in the New Year.

2026 will also see us visit Yorkshire and North Wales, locations Alfred Wainwright knew and sketched.

Our walks starting from Lakeside and Howtown in August and October (date to be confirmed) respectively also include steamer/launch travel. If you would like to enjoy either or both boat journeys please advise the Walks Organiser as soon as possible. This is to confirm numbers with the operators. Kindly note the cost of the journey will be to member’s account.

It is hoped that the Conwy walk will include a visit to the castle. As with the boat travel please confirm with the Walks Organiser whether you would like to participate and also advise if you are a member of English Heritage or Cadw.
